The Geneseo Police Department K9 Program was begun in 2008. K9 Rosko was purchased through grant funding obtained from the offices of Senator Dale Volker and Assemblyman Daniel Burling.
Rosko Rosko
Rosko is a male Belgian Malinois. The Belgian Malinois is a breed that is especially suited for police work. Rosko and his handler, Officer Jason Yasso, are certified in dog obedience, patrol work, criminal apprehension, tracking, and narcotic detection. Rosko can also deter crime through foot patrols and building checks, help the police department sniff out illegal drugs, locate lost or missing children as well as protect the police officers he is working with.
Rosko is available to the Geneseo community for K9 demonstrations. He will also be available to schools and community groups where he and officer Yasso will display the abilities of the K9 unit.
The Geneseo Police Department would greatly appreciate any donation given to support the maintenance and equipment expenses associated with the K9 Program.
