Geneseo Fire Department

One of the reasons for the incorporation of the Village of Geneseo in 1832 was to establish fire protection for its citizens.  Since 1834 continuous fire protection has been provided, and beginning in 1940, ambulance service.

Today the fire department provides fire and ambulance protection to the Village, and to the Town of Geneseo under contract.  Ambulance protection is also provided to a portion of the Town of Groveland.

Seventy-five volunteer members answer 225 fire calls, and 1200 ambulance calls annually.  Equipment includes; two ambulances, three pumper/tankers, ladder truck, inflatable rescue boat, and three support vehicles.  The crown jewel of the equipment fleet is the 1951 Mack engine/ladder truck (reserve truck).   The “Old Mack” is well known throughout Western New York among firemen, and has won countless parade awards.

The firehouse is located at 133 Center Street.  The department mailing address is: P.O. Box 428 Geneseo, NY 14454
