Village of Geneseo Logo

THE VILLAGE LOGO

In 1991, the United States Department of the Interior designated the Village as a National Historic Landmark, one of a handful of such communities in the country. Considered by leading architects as “a museum of historic buildings,” the Village boasts a wide range of architectural styles and periods. The plaque on the Geneseo Building presented by then Secretary of the Interior Manuel Lujan reads: Geneseo Historic District has been designated a National Historic Landmark. This district possesses National significance in commemorating the history of the United States of America. 1991 - National Park Service - United States Department of the Interior.

The building on the logo is the Geneseo Building, built by the Town and Village of Geneseo in 1906. The building has been the site of the Town and Village offices since that date. The Geneseo Fire Department was also housed in the building until the late 1970's, when a new firehouse was built.

The logo artwork belongs to Donna Kelsey, local pen and ink artist who has a studio at 118 Main Street.
